How we use your data

What “help us improve” actually means.

When you check the “Help us improve Parallax Listings” box at signup, you're consenting to a narrow, specific set of uses of information about how you use the service. Here's exactly what that covers, what it does not cover, and the things we never do regardless of what you check.

The short version
  • What we use: anonymous, aggregated information about how you use the service — which features, how often, what fails, what works.
  • What we never use under this consent: your listing photos, your contact information, or your customers' information.
  • Why we ask: so we can make the product genuinely better — fix failures faster, build the features agents actually use, retire the ones nobody touches.
  • How to opt out: uncheck the box at signup, or toggle it off in Settings any time. The service works the same either way.

What this consent covers

By checking the “Help us improve” box, you authorize Parallax Listings LLC (“we,” “us,” or “Parallax Listings”) to collect, store, and analyze the following categories of information for the purpose of improving the service:

  • Usage analytics. Which pages of the dashboard you visit, which features you use, how often, in what order. This tells us, for example, whether a feature we built is actually being used or quietly ignored.
  • Production telemetry. How long each step in your order takes, where errors occur, where uploads fail, where downloads succeed. This tells us where the workflow breaks so we can fix it.
  • Performance data. Page load times, browser type, device type, approximate location (city-level, from your IP). This tells us whether the service works as well on a phone as it does on a desktop.
  • Aggregate quality signals. Patterns in which kinds of photos succeed and which fail in our motion process — for example, “photos with bright window backgrounds have a higher rework rate.” Our human review team already tracks this internally; your consent lets us link it to anonymized account patterns to spot trends.

Where possible, this information is anonymized or aggregated. Where it must be tied to an account for technical reasons (such as debugging a specific failure), it stays internal, is accessed only by the people who need it to do their jobs, and is never sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes.

What this consent does NOT cover

This consent does not allow us to use your listing photos for anything beyond fulfilling your order. Your photos remain yours (or your photographer's or broker's, depending on your licensing arrangement). They are used to produce the motion stills you ordered, stored in your account for your access, and not used in any other way — not in our marketing, not in sample libraries, not to train any model, not to demonstrate to other customers — unless you grant explicit, separate, written permission for a specific use.

To be unambiguous, checking the “Help us improve” box does not grant any of the following:

  • Use of your listing photos or motion stills in our marketing, advertising, or on our website.
  • Use of your listing photos or motion stills in any sample or demonstration shown to other customers or prospects.
  • Use of your listing photos or motion stills to train, fine-tune, or evaluate any machine-learning model, including any future model.
  • Disclosure of your contact information, account information, or identity to any third party for any marketing purpose.
  • Selling, renting, or trading any of your data to any third party.

Any of these uses requires a separate, specific written consent from you — for example, if you'd like to be a featured case study, we will ask you directly, in writing, and you can say no with no impact on your account.

How long we keep this information

Usage and performance data is retained for as long as it is useful for improving the service, typically up to twenty-four (24) months from the date of collection, after which it is either deleted or anonymized in a way that cannot be linked back to your account. Aggregate, anonymized statistics derived from this data may be retained longer.

Who has access

Access to information collected under this consent is limited to Parallax Listings personnel and contractors who need it to do their jobs — the engineering team building the product, the operations team improving the workflow, and our human review team. All personnel are bound by confidentiality obligations. Third-party services we use to operate the platform (such as our hosting provider, our database provider, and our analytics tools) may technically have access to this data as part of providing their services to us, but they are not authorized to use it for their own purposes.

How to withdraw this consent

You can withdraw this consent at any time, in any of these ways:

  • Account settings. Log in, go to Settings → Privacy, and toggle “Help us improve” off.
  • Email us. Write to hello@parallaxlistings.com with the subject line “Withdraw data-use consent” and we will process it within five business days.

Withdrawing this consent stops future collection for product-improvement purposes. It does not affect the basic operational data we must collect to provide the service (such as your account information, order history, and the photos you've uploaded for your orders — those are required to operate the service and are governed by your Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy).

If you withdraw consent, what happens to data already collected? Anonymized aggregate data already incorporated into our analytics cannot be unwound. Identifiable usage data, where it exists, is deleted within a reasonable period (typically thirty days) after consent withdrawal, except where we are required to retain it by law.

If you reside in California, the European Union, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with privacy laws granting you additional rights — including the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information, or to object to certain processing, or to data portability — those rights apply. Changes to this policy

If we change how we use the information collected under this consent in a way that materially expands the scope, we will notify you by email and require your renewed, affirmative consent before applying the new uses to your data. We will not silently expand the use of data you have already shared with us.

Questions
